Water intrusion, coupled with an elevated temperature and a food source create the environment for molds to propagate rapidly. Floods, sewer back-ups, or the presence of bird droppings, domestic or wild animal wastes increase the likelihood that bacteria are involved. We are familiar with the health effects from molds such as stachybotrys, actinomycetes, aspergillus, cladosporium, penicillium, alternaria, and many more. We do detailed inspections of a building, including both occupied and unoccupied spaces. This includes HVAC systems, intake registers, return air plenums, basements, roofs, attics, crawl spaces, building drainage, sump systems, window wells, wall interiors, and false floors. Testing of the air for microorganisms to identify mold or bacteria, and quantify them with comparison to outdoors and reference levels. Sampling of surfaces using wipe tests, vacuum samples, bulk materials, or air tests in closed walls/floors/ceilings. All samples are analyzed by nationally accredited microbiological laboratories using such methods as incubation, culturing, microscopic examination, GC/MS, and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).
